FAQ

Is it mandatory to live permanently in Italy?
No. Unlike other residency schemes, Italy's Golden Visa offers complete regulatory flexibility and does not impose a strict annual physical stay quota for the main investor.
Can I include my immediate family in the process?
Yes. Italian law allows for family reunification and the extension of residence benefits to the investor's spouse, dependent children, and parents under the same unified application.
Does this program grant access to a European passport?
Yes. The investor and their family have the possibility of applying for permanent residency after 5 years of regular legal residence, and are eligible for Italian citizenship after the periods and requirements established by national regulations (10 years).
What exactly is considered an "Innovative Startup" according to Italian legislation?
An Innovative Startup is a limited liability company incorporated in Italy that meets strict government criteria based on technology or science. This includes allocating at least 15% of its expenses to research and development (R&D), having a highly qualified team (master's or doctoral degrees), or possessing a registered industrial patent. At AIM Global, we only work with funds and startups that have been previously audited and certified by the Ministry.
Is it possible to substitute or change the destination of the investment halfway through the period?
Not directly. The Investor Visa for Italy program regulations require that the capital remain intact in the form initially approved by the Technical Committee. If an investor decides to withdraw funds from a startup or liquidate government bonds before the established deadline, the residence permit will be revoked immediately, unless a new visa application is submitted from the country of origin.
What are the exact legal deadlines for executing the capital transfer once the visa has been approved?
The operational framework grants the investor a strict maximum period of 3 months (90 days), starting from the exact date of their entry into Italian territory, to complete and document the transfer of funds to the receiving entity. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the automatic cancellation of the prior authorization (Nulla Osta).
Does the Italian Golden Visa offer any preferential tax or fiscal benefits?
Italy offers highly attractive tax regimes for wealthy new residents, such as the well-known "Flat Tax" (a flat tax of €100,000 annually on global income) for high net worth individuals. However, obtaining an investor visa does not automatically trigger tax obligations unless the holder transfers their primary tax residence to the country (by spending more than 183 days a year in Italy).
