European Residency and a Route to Citizenship in Portugal
Golden Visa Portugal
The Portugal Golden Visa is the most established and prestigious global mobility scheme in Europe. After the rule change that removed the real estate route entirely, the program has successfully reinvented itself around financial capital vehicles and corporate incentives. Built for high-net-worth investors, it grants immediate legal residency, free movement across the Schengen Area and the right to apply for European citizenship — with a physical stay requirement of just 7 days a year.
- Minimum investment: from €500,000 in eligible funds.
- Processing time: approx. 24 to 36 months.
- Minimum stay: just 7 days a year (14 days per two-year period).
- Extends to your spouse, dependent children and dependent parents on both sides.
- Where it leads: direct eligibility for a Portuguese passport.

Job Creation with Capital Injection
Capital put into setting up a company, or into a capital increase in an existing Portuguese company. This route requires creating or maintaining at least 5 permanent jobs for a minimum of 3 years.
